In Château de Maisons located in Maisons-Laffitte, a half an hour West of Paris, we can appreciate the mansion of a rich Lord built in the middle of the 17th century. In fact this castle is the first example of French classicism that was fully developed afterwards in Versailles.
A very pleasant tour proposed to you in the castle ordered by René Longueuil, Superintendent of Finances. Longueuil received here in Maisons-Laffitte the young king, Louis XIV, with his mother the Regent Anne of Austria. The castle was built by François Mansart, the great uncle of Jules Hardouin-Mansart who will later become the great architect of Louis XIV, the Sun King.
