The city of Auvers sur Oise invites us for a walk in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh
In the castle of Auvers visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the late 19th century atmosphere with its cabarets, its artists’ ateliers. This mythical Paris is repainted in the movie of Woody Allen “Midnight in Paris”. It was a time for French artistic effervescence, likewise the 16th century in Firenze.
We discover the house of Doctor Gachet who took care of Vincent van Gogh’s mental health. We’ll walk till the cemetery of this small town to greet Vincent and his brother Théo. Théo who died few months after his brother probably out of grief.
We will have the possibility to admire the small streets and enjoy the absinthe which almost drove crazy some of the artists!
We will end up having lunch at the Auberge du Père Ravoux, the same hostel that housed Vincent van Gogh until his last day and we will, of course, visit his room before our return trip to Paris .
