The Vaux le Vicomte Castle, ancestor of Versailles Palace and the gardens “à la française” is situated South of Paris. It is the creation of three men brought together by Nicolas Fouquet, Superintendent of finances under Louis XIV: the gardener Le Nôtre, the architect Le Vau and painter Le Brun. The perfect harmony between architecture and landscape is the result of their fraternal genius. Since its opening at the famous feast of 17 August 1661, Vaux le Vicomte aroused the greed of the Sun King and became the model of arhitectural inspiration in Europe.

In the evening, every summer and until fall, 2000 candles are lit in the garden and inside the castle. A bright wonderland that invites to revive this memorable page in history: the party given by Nicolas Fouquet in the honour of the Sun King.

Each year, the castle is decorated for year-end festivities! A truly magical setting! The facade is illuminated at nightfall , the courtyard is bordered by an alley of green pine trees; inside the castle Christmas trees are decorated with glittering balls and the Christmas table is set in the dining room! Enchanting lights, decorated Christmas trees and garlands magnify the castle’s interiors.
